Overview:
Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is helping us define how team members with a variety of backgrounds collaborate and contribute to projects. However, it's important to realize that without a specified and agreed upon method the probability of success may not increase. Just like adding more cars to a highway will cause traffic jams, adding more people to a process that is not ready for their contributions will cause more problems and risk to project delivery than you have today. An important question to ask when involving more roles into your ALM is "How do we benefit from (new role)'s contribution to the project without burdening the (existing role)s current workflow?" The answer to this question is different for every team since every team is different. The good news is that the principles, methods, and tools which enable this new collaboration are the same and they work together!
